Winfall Baptist Church was constituted in 1905 according to the minutes of the Appomattox Baptist Association. It was organized with the help of a group who were formerly members of Kedron Baptist Church in Gladys.

The sanctuary was built in 1908 while Rev C S Kirkwood was pastor. The land for the building was given by Mrs. Judith Ann Elliott, but was actually deeded to the church by Mrs. A W Elliott in 1946.

Winfall Baptist Church was included in the Staunton River Baptist Association when the Association was formed in 1952. The Association now represents 28 churches.

Sunday School rooms were built in 1957. A new floor and pews were placed in the sanctuary in 1967 and carpet was added in 1968. Aluminum siding and a new piano were purchased in 1973 followed by a new steeple in 1974. Mr. & Mrs. Newton Cunningham deeded additional land to the church in 1984. 1987 saw a new roof and a complete painting of all Sunday school rooms. In 1987 we also purchased “The New National Baptist Hymnal" to be used for worship services. In the winter of 1988, the old windows were removed from the sanctuary and replaced with new stained-glass windows given in honor and memory of the members and friends of our church.

The music ministry of our church grew in 1989 adding new music binders for the choir and speaker stands for the Gospel Crusaders. A new piano lamp along with 25 new hymnals and pew bibles were added in honor and memory of various members and friends of our church.

In June of 1989 lightning struck and destroyed our steeple, which was placed on the church in 1974. The steeple was replaced with the present one and we trust that it will stand as a tribute to the many faithful members who have seen our church grow over the past 95 years.

One of our greatest accomplishments of 1989 was the addition of our new fellowship hall and Sunday school classrooms. Many members prayed and worked hard to make the addition a reality. The building was dedicated in late 1989.

During 1990, the platform, steps, ramp, and new sidewalks were completed on the front of the church. The parking lot was also surfaced that same year. The Brotherhood was also organized in 1990 under the direction of Ortwin Jefferson.

In 1992, the WMU was organized under the direction of Tammy Deacon. A much-needed copier was purchased that same year.

In 1993 our church was the recipient of the 1991 edition of "The Baptist Hymnal" given in memory of Juanita C Bobbitt.

In 1997 our church was proud to have Ron Sutphin ordained as a pastor. He and his wife Fern were then commissioned by Winfall Baptist as missionaries and were sent to Brazil to serve for several years.

In July of 1998 we added a new PA system into the church. This had been an added benefit for the music ministry of our church. In October 1998 we are proud to say we had a NOTE BURNING SERVICE because of the debt being paid off for the new fellowship hall and Sunday school rooms.

In 1999 several men from our church went on a mission trip to Red Land Baptist Church in Pennsylvania to help renovate a church there. They brought back with them some good ideas that we could use for our renovation.

Plans are underway for the renovation of our sanctuary. The blueprints have been approved and construction will begin sometime in October of 2000 with completion scheduled for July 200l. We are all excited and looking forward to this.

In 2007 a projector and screen were added to the sanctuary.
In 2009 a parking lot was added using a plot of land given to the church.

Members of our church who have become ministers include Rev Hatcher S Elliott, retired, Rev S W Elliott, former minister of our church, and Rev Ron Sutphin.
